Notes and discussion from Stake Conference
  • The responsibilities of teaching rest with the auxillary and priesthood leadership.
  • President Carlile - Revelation is the bedrock prinicpal - He read with us Joseph Smith History starting at verse 11-12 and said we could compare Joseph Smith’s lessons to what we do in our callings.

    1. We have the scriptures before us.
    2. Just like Joseph Smith we have unsettling issues and must make a decision.
    3. He began his quest , he did no know much but had the scriptures to turn to.
    4. Scriptures told him to take action, they should also inspire us to tack action.
    5. The answer to his prayer was far beyond what he anticipated, so with us, issues will be resolved but way beyond what we might anticipate. He was asked to bring on the restoration we may have to bring something else on. 6. You are entitled to revelation because you were called. A powerful process. If we do it without revelation it won’t be done by the Lord’s way. The Holy Ghost can connect doctrine to decision. Revelation comes as the complete package to the mind and heart.

Other guidelines to receive revelation
Pray for guidance
Have Quiet time to ponder and listen to the Holy Ghost
Be humble
Keep the commandments.
Study the scriptures everyday.
Take to ponder.
Patiently seek God’s will.

You can not force spiritual thing, be patient and trust the Lord’s timing.

God's children deserve shepherds that know how to receive revelation from him.
